The factory set default position is such that the rear edge of the card is 22mm back from the rear card sensor. The default of 23 can be modified by sending an SDP command (Smart Default Position) along with the parameter, i.e. if SPD34 is sent then the default will become 34mm back from the sensor and will be recorded in FLASH memory so will be retained when unit is powered off. This command can be sent to the printer either using the Printer Controls within Printer Properties or by installing the MSUtility_vxxx.exe Tool found on the Rio Tango 2 Printer Driver CD within the Software directory. The command can be sent via PrinterIdentity/Quick Commands. This Magicard Support Utility can also be used to read the value of the default using the Query Printer Tab. This addition prevents the need to include the position parameter with the GEM command which may be different between applications. 7. In addition to the SDP command, the GEM function has been modified such that if a GEM command has already been sent and the card is in the smart encoding position, then a subsequent GEMnn command will reposition the card.
